Alanna, oh, Alanna. to be frank i love her- her quick tongue, attitude, determination, and strength. this is a story of a girl who disguises as a boy in order to become a knight. tgis book is written very well, Alanna is a well developed character. but, among all i loved how Pierce didn't cut some slack to Alanna. despite being a girl she was bullied and had gone through tough training- now, you might say that it should obviously be this way. but even when disguised as a boy, many writers pity their characters, trying not to put them through things that might be hard to the character. even more when considering their gender. Pierce doesn't do that, and that made me appreciate her and love the book. i'd reccomend it from age 10 to who ever would like to read it, it is fantastic with wonderful adventures!
